PETE bottles: How can I tell which are which?
I reuse certain plastic bottles to store food products and water. Located on the bottom of the bottle is a triangular symbol. The letters “PETE” are imprinted underneath the triangle. I think this labeling indicates the plastic is less porous than other types of plastic. It keeps out oxygen better. Check out the info on the link regarding which plastics are safe for food storage: http://extension.usu.edu/htm/news/articleID=3575
Havasupai Water Filters
The boys and dads had a terrific, challenging experience at Havasu–I’m almost jealous I didn’t get to go. Our family purchased a water filter at Recreation Outlet for this High Adventure. It is now a perfect thing to add to our emergency prepardness/food storage area. WOW. One step closer to preparedness.
Also, you can use PETE bottles to store water for emergencies. Water doesn’t have to be only stored in 50 gallon blue water barrels.
Dietian.com’s Healthy Body Calculator
WOW. It never fails to surprise me how little I’m suppose to eat in one day. That Body Calculator seems to incorporate all the necessary info to make an accurate predication. I guess I eat the same amount as a six foot man, so I weigh the same amount as a six foot man. Bon appetit.

I Tried the Indian Fry Bread
The Indian Fry Bread recipe I posted yesterday didn’t work out so well for me. It was probably the cooking method I employed. I patted the entire recipe of dough into a 12 inch round and fried it in a dutch oven over charcoal. It didn’t rise. The result was a very heavy one inch thick by 12 inch frisbee weighing a bout 2 1/2 lbs. OOPSIES.
Home Organization
I am certainly no expert on HO, but with the miracle of the internet (remember opposition in all things even the net) we can access helpful or not so helpful hints in a flash or longer (if you’ve got dial up). Do people still have that? Here’s a fun local link: http://houseoforder.com/index.htm. Remember, we were going to have this cute gal give a series of classes for our Stake.

Get ready for the summer produce that will be available soon by reading up on water bath canning. Remember veggies and meat must be, must, must, must be pressure canned. I don’t care if your uncle and grandma and neighbor named Frank never got botulism from their water bath canned green beans. Don’t you do it.
Food, Glorious Food
A number of people in this neighborhood know how attached to food I am; consequently, Provident Living Specialist seems an obvious calling for me. The thought of not having enough food because of catastophes, finances or economics keeps me overeating thrice daily. Besides the cold storage in the basement my main location for food storage is on my hips and belly. Gotta love it.
